UNICEF award: Nine wells Hospital's motherhood care

Ninewells Hospital has been awarded the prominent UNICEF Baby Friendly Award for the standard of care given to women throughout and after pregnancy. According to NHS Tayside head of midwifery Kay Forsyth ''We decided to join services with UNICEF UK's Baby Friendly Initiative to boost breastfeeding rates and to get better care for all mothers at Ninewells.

Mothers who right to use the services at Ninewells advantage from having extra support from volunteers. There are so many programs for protecting the babies from life threatening diseases. The Baby sociable plan is a worldwide programme of the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.

UNICEF Early Childhood Development Projects Under ReviewUNICEF aims at early childhood development projects this year, the new projects are now under reviews. Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shibaniyah, Education Minister met at the General Diwan of the Education Ministry yesterday with Laila Gad, Representative of the UNICEF Office in the Sultanate in the presence of Suad bin Salim al Balushi, Under-Secretary of the Education Ministry for Educational Planning and Human Resources Development and a number of directors general in the ministry.

The meeting touched on discussing the joint co-operation plan between the Education Ministry and the UNICEF for this year related to early childhood development projects, childhood protection and data and information management as a proposal for the education projects with the organization was reviewed to be included within the organization’s plan.

The meeting discussed the most important projects being implemented by the UNICEF with the ministry which have reached advanced stages, such as the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children tests and the project of enhancing the student’s continuation in learning, in addition to the Child-Friendly School (CFS) project.

UNICEF’s immunization programme draws together various aspects of public health programmes – from a monitoring and supply system to the storage and delivery of vaccines and 10the training of health workers.
